Department of Social and Developmental Psychology

Social and Developmental PsychologyPsychology at Cambridge is changing!

A new undergraduate course has been launched that allows you to focus on a distinct and clear pathway for studying psychology at Cambridge. The Psychological and Behavioural Sciences Tripos replaces the Politics, Psychology and Sociology Tripos, accepting entrants for 2013. The PBS Tripos is a broad, flexible course which covers all aspects of psychology including, for example, cognitive psychology, psychopathology, language, brain mechanisms, gender, family relationships and influences, personality, and group social behaviour. Research projects and a dissertation allow you to study in greater depth the topics that interest you the most.

You will be taught psychology by lecturers and researchers of international excellence, and can also learn from staff in the fields of biological and social anthropology, biology, history and philosophy of science, criminology, sociology and education. Seminar programmes throughout the year offer regular talks from guest speakers. In addition to this academic expertise, you will have access to extensive library and computing facilities. More information can be found on the Psychological and Behavioural Sciences Tripos website.

The Department of Social and Developmental Psychology is also changing. This year it will be merging with the Department of Experimental Psychology to form the new Department of Psychology. This enables new research areas to be developed jointly, expands the provision of psychology teaching, and provides a single unified department for the admission of high quality undergraduates who want to study psychology. This website will be replaced with a new Department of Psychology website within the next few months.
